Consumer's Journey

Cart Corralers and Cosumer Driven

While entering Wal Marts, Krogers, and other stores, I cannot help but to dissect the store layout, design, shelves, etc. since discovering my passion for marketing, branding, case work, and earning my MBA. It seems you enter on the west side (left side), and are directed to the left through the array of items that immediately impact you. The photo shop, flowers, then usually the fruit and vegetable options. Hopefully you pick up some produce, possibly a Chiquita Banana where they are even getting creative with the stickers (remember when you were younger and felt cool if you got the one with the sticker, now they have trendy sayings like Taco Bell's sauces, creating a humorous bond with consumers with sayings such as "You had me a Taco", or "When I grow up, I want to be a waterbed", interesting way to connect with consumers).

You continue your journey passing the bread, and if you're up to date, counting the carbs, and meeting up on the north end of the store, greeted by healthy cereals/salsa's/other dry goods. Now that you have remembered you need to buy flowers, bread, and lose weight, your shopping list begins to grow. Now the fun begins. You are now in a whole new world of wonderful consumer goods you 'need' to purchase. Your cart probably has around four items at this time in your journey, now the deli, personal items, and frozen goods start to invite you to make them a part of your cart.

The average cart has a capacity of 12,500 Cu. In. /140 Liters, has a 'top basket capacity' of 8,720 Cu. In. at an average weight of 50 dollars. There is more than enough space to build a collection of goods that you utilize a speciality card for a discount (market research, patterns, behavior, and trends...), and engage in your journey to the car, unload, hopefully put the cart in the cart corral, and anticipate the unloading of your consumer goods.
